Angelina Rifle and Pistol Club

Greetings all:

Another year begins with the 1st match of 2014 USBR season at Angelina Rifle and Pistol Club (Lufkin).  Matches are held on the second (2nd) Saturday of each month, February through October. There will be a few new and exciting changes for this year, so please mark your calendar and join us on Saturday February, 8th, 2014 for the first match.

WHAT’S NEW FOR 2014

New Match Start Time: Match begins at 10:00 am (Range officially opens at 8:30 am, but there are usually club members at the range earlier)

New Entry Fee per Class: The entry fee for each class is $5.00 (non-club members will be charged an additional $2.00 for the first class entered, then $5.00 for each subsequent class)

New Class: A non-USBR class – Military-type 22lr rifles ($5.00 class entry fee, USBR target, anything goes for modifications [except full auto], no scope limit, any rest or tripod, should resemble a military rifle, scores do not count for any year-end award.)

New Scoring Method: All targets will be self-scored after each relay – no targets will be accepted after the beginning of the next relay. The top three scores for each class will be checked by a match official. All scores will be recorded and used to compile and calculate year-end awards. Competitors will post and retrieve their own targets at the direction of the Range/Match/Relay Director.

New Frames and Backers at the range.

Range Safety: Starting with the first match in February. All bolts must be removed from the rifles at all times, except when the rifle is in a shooting rest in the bench, pointing down range, and THE LINE IS HOT. As soon as a cease fire is called, the bolt must be removed, but the rifle may remain in the bench. At no time should a bolt be in the rifle action while the line is safe, regardless whether the rifle is in the bench or in the racks. Semi auto rifles will use an open bolt indicator; magazine removed, and must be racked while the line is safe, not left in the bench with the open bolt indicator in it. FIRST (1st) INFRACTION: YOU WILL BE REMINDED OF THE SAFETY RULES, SECOND (2nd) INFRACTION: YOU WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE RANGE FOR THAT MATCH. NO REFUND OF MATCH FEES.

RANGE COMMANDS: Relay 1 (2, 3, 4, etc.) bring your equipment to the line, but keep the line safe.

Is the line ready or is additional time required?

The line is ready. Ready on the right, ready on the left - You may insert your bolt.

Commence Fire (the 20 minute relay time limit will start)

Cease Fire; make the line safe (the 20 minute relay time will end)

A CEASE FIRE may be called at any time or by anyone if there is a range safety issue. Crossfire, a target falls, a deer down range or things of this nature will be addressed by the Match Director. A Cease Fire may (or may not) be called to correct the problem.

New Match Director: Evelio McDonald

Record Keeping: Harry Berry will maintain all scores from each match and calculate the year-end points (and awards).

Year-end Awards: There will be nine (9) matches held February-October (hurricanes permitting). A competitor’s lowest two (2) scores for each class (Plinker, Sporter, Custom and Unlimited) will be dropped and the remaining seven (7) scores will be used to calculate the point totals for year-end awards for each class. In the event of a tie, the x-count will be the first tie breaker. If the scores are still tied, then dual awards will be given. A missed match counts as a zero (0) score and will be used as one of the two scores dropped. Highest score (any class, any match) determines the High Score shooter-of-the year award. The highest three-gun score (any match) determines the Three-Gun shooter-of-the-year award. In order for a competitor to be considered for ANY year-end award they must shoot at least seven (7) matches of the same class (ex. – to be eligible for the Sporter year-end award, the competitor must shoot in the Sporter Class for at least seven [7] matches. NOTE-does not need to be the same gun).

Cash Cans: In the spirit of competition and fun, optional Cash Cans are again available this year for each class. Two ($2.00) dollar entry fee per class. High score of each class for those participating takes the Cash in the Can!!!

Communication: e-mail address corrections and additions should be sent to Harry Berry (harry.berry@xerox.com) and copy to Evelio McDonald (emcdonald5@comcast.netPhone Numbers: Evelio McDonald (home: 281.893.1405, cell: 713.302.7906), Harry Berry (home 281.350.6212, cell 281.414.7596)

USBR Rules: Copy of the USBR Rules are available at the USBR website: www.usbr.benchrest.net

USBR National Records (50 yards): Plinker – 244-8x (December, 2009), Sporter – 242-3x (Jan, 2006), Custom – 248-8x (May, 2006), Unlimited – 247-9x (August, 2010). Three-Gun – 725-14x (May, 2006)

See you all on February 8, 2014

Regards,

Harry Berry
